Nesting progress is being made, take 1...

The connected kitchen, dining room and family room in the works...Our Master Suite!Anna's room The Piano Room, which is still piano-less. Anxiously awaiting it's transfer from storage to here...
Le entry...
The dining room move-in mess...
The office/library/craftroom/dumphole for now... Still unearthing boxes of goods...it's like Christmas in September and October and November...
Only by the gracious help of many hands, providing meals, vacuuming floors, putting together kitchens, lights, cribs and more!!
We're so blessed by our family and extended family o' friends!
"God is not unjust;
He will not forget your work and the love
you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them."
-Hebrews 6:10
More updated pics to come soon, managing sick baby and hubby as I even type...

My gratitude for the Mini-Mini-Maids!

Three cheers for my three Mini-Mini-Maids!!

For my big FAT thank you to them,

for all of their laborous work to help me clean up this shack to get it move-in ready,

we went out for some scrumptious tea time

(and a mini-glamour-girls fun photo sesh afterwards).

What fun and a joy these new neighbors and dear friends are to my soul!

Can't wait till my lil A-bug is big enough to enjoy these moments together too!

Enjoy the show...

WEEEEEEE!

I'm grateful for my birthday boy husband
who leads the way or teaches me,
almost every day,
a new way to trust God,
with my life,
in His hands...

But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, "You are my God!"

My future is in your hands.

-Psalm 31:14-15

So grateful

for stuff like this...
After just coming out of a year of my life "as it was" to life being "as it is now",
it's so refreshing to hear of other real live women out there
who have to learn to re-situate the face of their timeclock with Jesus, hubby and kids.
Enjoy this honest gal's sorting through it all
and her receptivity of God's understanding and un-boxed-in grace.

These are the moments...

(photography by Captivating Photography & Design Co.)

With the impending doom of the next major transition, since just 12 short months ago when little A-bug arrived, namely...the big move to the new pad, my intrinsic nature to dread change has of course risen it's ugly head. I don't know what it is about it and I oh-so-wish I was like so many out there I know, that just rejoice with change and gracefully move along with every wind of it that comes their way. But I'm not and I don't. It's just not me. And I'm learning to understand the fact that although God wants to free me from the many things in life that hinder me from moving forward, He also accepts me and loves me right where I'm at.
So to add to the "big move" in 2 days, lil A has decided that now that she's a big 1 year old girl, she will resume a sleep pattern like a mini newborn babe, waking up MULTIPLE times a night and then for the day between the hours of 5-6am, after she'd been going down dreamily at 7:30pm until a wonderful 7am the next morning (which so blessed this survives-on-8-or-more-hours-of-sleep kind of girl.) SO knowing that D-Day is coming and knowing we both need a full tank of steam for the moving, unpacking, setting up and playing the "new home and many projects" game (with a toddler underfoot this time), while Will is also re-entering fall schedule of church life with Wednesday kid's church and football coaching to boot, and Anna and I will also be having to get situated with not having 2 extra sets of hands around during day and night when daddy's away (what every mama has to deal with daily I know, but we've been so blessed with help at the grand-rents house over the past 10 months, that it's just going to take a little adjusting for the both of us, in many ways)...we have both needless to say, felt a little bit streeeeetched with what is to come in the next couple of weeks.

As I woke up (or more like stumbled in) to rock my darling girl back down from her wailing stupor this a.m. at 5 something (I can't even read the clock that early in the morning and with the impending transition, I just don't have it in me to deal with sleep training right now when we're gonna have to re-deal with it again in another week after the move), I was reminded of the many forms of sweet peace and contentment that Jesus CAN and WILL provide even in the midst of the chaos that is about to ensue...
While we rocked together,
all snuggled up in the warmth of our fleece shared blankie,
in the quietness of the dark that was still settled over the land,
a sweet and innocent voice,
still hazy with sleep,
peeked into my ears and heart through pacifier covered lips...
"mama".
It wasn't a question,
but just a quiet statement of contentment,
that she knew who I was and knew who she was to me,
and as long as we were together,
just dreamily rocking back to a sweet slumber,
it really was all going to be okay.

As trite as it sounds "Home really is where the heart is." And there is where my heart will stay, over these next few days that will turn into weeks and then months, and then I will once again just wonder what all that fuss was all about anyways? Because as long as we are all 3 together, nestled in close and even closer to our ever-present God, knowing who He is and who we are to Him, we lay back and re-discover that place of sweet rest. And the remainder of this season's winds of change? They will all pass and we'll be even better on the other side, after they've all blown by.
Thank you Lord, for moments like this. Just a few more doses of them are sure to get me through this season, as the leaves turn for the Irwin 3, once again.

Love for the Father...

I am loving watching this lil bug admire, gape in awe of,
laugh her head off with and gasp with excitement
when her daddy enters the room from a long day of work.
And she's exactly the same way when her pop-pop is anywhere near her in the house.
Just vying for his attention...babbling, squealing, just to get him to look her way.
She just wants him to know that she is there and desperately wants his admiration in return.

And I was thinking today, is this how I desire to be in the presence of my Heavenly Father? Craning my neck around my high chair (or big girl chair now),
to desperately peek in the adjacent room to get the reminder that He knows that I'm here still?
Dying to just be in position so that He'll have to stumble over me when He walks into the room, just so I can sit in the same room as Him?
Playing chase and squealing in absolute delight, simply enjoying His existence in my life?

Or am I too busy, just being a grown-up girl, and going on with the "necessities" of life
to even remember I have a Father who wants that
exact same simplicity and ecstatic joy of this pure relationship with me too??

We're those same little girls still, you know?
Just in big girl bodies now.
And then I remembered, He's still there.
He always has been.
Just waiting for me to come partake in the delight and joy He takes in my presence too.

And a little preview...

of what's to come soon!!
A viewing of all 11 months of photos of the lil bug's life,
THANKS to the Captivating Photography and Design Co...

(this one's an 11 month-er with a dress mama concocted with her raggedy sewing skills and some cowgirl-ing boots from Will's Uncle Mack--a baby after her cowgirl-lovin' mama's heart!)

This just in, from the Anna Frontier!

Just an FYI...I'm sure you're all just DY-ing to know each and every new thing Anna is doing, since a lot of you don't have kids (or grandkids) of your own to oogle and awe over each learned thing, haha!
So on that note, I just thought I'd mention that a lot of my little blog posts like this are actually for A's blog book that I am converting from blog-to-book each year of her life, I've already made 2 others from the past 2 years thru blurb.com (little plug for an AMAZING and VERY affordable book making site) and I've been pleased as punch with them! A great option for the non-scrapbookers of the world!
So, anyways, if you are still interested in the current updates on the Anna-can-do's, after that disclaimer, here they be:

SHE SPEAKS:
Meow
Woof (emphasis on the "fff")
Whoa
Hellooooo (just like Horton the Elephant does)
Dad
Mama
Pop Pop
Byebye
Yeah! (with great enthusiasm)
Wawa (for wall or water)
Ooooh Ooooh (when the phone rings, just assuming it's for her, ha)
Mmmmm (still hummin' away whenever music starts)
Wow!
And just a mimicking little monkey with lots of different sounds, coughs and laughs (especially the courtesy laughs she inserts at appropriate times in conversations)

SHE SIGNS:
More
Please
Milk
Eat
Blows Kisses
All Done or All Gone
Waves Hi & Bye

SHE PLAYS:
Where's Anna peek-a-boo
How big is Anna?
And many many more

And NO SHE DOESN'T QUITE WALK, not yet anyway. But she's getting real close! She stands well on her own (even better if she's holding a toy in her hand) and regularly does squats!
And most importantly she'll be ONE YEAR OLD, tomorrow!!!! We've almost made it, wahoo!

It's a Jungle out there!!

It all began with her mama's love for the Safari (because of her daddy's love) many many years ago (well, maybe only 30-ish short years ago)...And now it's becoming her love (she just doesn't fully know it yet)!!
Pop-pop was SO jazzed to take his 2nd favorite baby girl to the crazy walk-thru-jungle for the day...

Lions and tigers and OWLS oh my!!

About 2 seconds before a snorting hungry donkey blew all over her face. Let's just say it didn't make her the happiest baby in the jungle that day...

Trying to share her lunch with the screaming monkeys "do you guys like turkey and string cheese?"...

Trying to make sounds like the screaming monkeys...

1 of the screaming monkeys (and seriously, screaming was an UNDER-statement)

"Look mama, the man said it was a half-price special for them to buy her, since she only has 1 leg"...

Wasn't he the funny walk-thru-jungle tour guide for the day?

She gets very intent when taking in new sights, especially when it comes to red-tailed lemurs...

It was quite the wild adventure!

"In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air." -Acts 10:12

She's 91 and she's just almost 1...

She's needing her carrots steamed and cut because she's losing her teeth...

she's needing her carrots steamed and cut because she's just gaining hers...

She's walking with a walker because she doesn't quite have her legs steady and strong anymore...

she's walking with a walker because she's just gaining the steady strength in hers...

She's struggling with conversations because she just can't seem to recollect her words...

she's struggling with conversations because she's just starting to collect hers...

She's asking for help with eating her meal because her hands just can't quite seem to hold spoons quite the same anymore...

she's asking for help with eating her meal because her hands are just learning to use them...

She's needing to get her hair fixed weekly because they just don't seem to stay in their follicles like they used to...

she's just starting to get her hair fixed because hers are just starting to pop in...

She's mentioning that she just doesn't quite have her head in the game today...

she's just starting to get hers in the game...

She's struggling to see the cookie that she's already taken a bite of, so she just keeps taking 3 more...

she's just starting to be amazed at the sights these amazing lenses can take in...

She's needing to get home to take in another nap because her body just seems to wear out and tire quicker than it used to...

she's needing another nap because her body is just starting to rev up and she's going so fast, she just wears herself out...

She's needing help with her potty times because she just doesn't seem to have the control she used to...

she's needing help with her potty times because she's just learning to have that control...

She's wondering who in the world we really are because her memory just isn't the same as it used to be...

she's just learning and building memories day by day, to formulate who in the world we really are...

It was quite the contrast and evidence of the cycle of life at our dinner table tonight, and I just soaked in every last drop of it.

Thoughts on Pride, Fear, Humility and Courage...

I'm loving this new blog I'm following for women, called (In)Courage http://www.incourage.me/. It features multiple women sharing their "I'm a real live gal, just livin' real life one day at a time, Jesus-style" stories.
Today's post totally spoke to the heart of this OCD-perfectionist-who also tends strongly towards fear and anxiety-since-birth (of which I used to be in denial of, or at least desiring to cover it so no one else would know about it...and now just acknowledge my need for my Savior to cover this prideful weakness on a moment-by-moment basis.)
I'll give you a glimpse of a couple of this blog-author's (Ann Voskamp) quotes and then pass on the link of this particular post "Only the Lowly", if it seems to tug at your heart strings as well...

"It’s only pride's hunger for perfection that paralyzes a heart, keeps us enslaved to fear."

"Jesus didn’t find courage for the Cross in the pride of who He was or bold illusions of self-sufficiency. He didn’t find Calvary courage by pulling himself up by the bootstraps of self-confidence and self-determination. Jesus found the greatest courage of all in the lowest place of all: “he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross” (Phil. 2:8)."

"Courage lives in the heart of the lowly... those who can embrace humility and the possibility of imperfection ... because that needy place is where God meets us."

For the rest...

Anna gets a tree!

A muraled one that is! Auntie Em came over yesterday into A-bug's room and added some personalized artistic luuuuvvvv!

She'll be back to add more artistic love to the other walls with a little more splash of color (some pink of course, she IS a girl!) next week....branches, birdies, berries and flowers! More to come soon!

Thanks Auntie Em! Anna can't wait to grow up and appreciate it, just like her mama does!

She Speaks!

...Mom
...Mommmmmm
...Mama
...Daaaadaaa
...Dadadadadadaddada
...Dada
...Pop pop (grampa Kuitert)
...Nummmm (when she's pleased as punch with her food)
...Waves (for hi and bye)
...Smacks her lips when requesting the mama juice
...Bob (her freshly purchased garage sale rocking horse whose ears produce whiney and gallop sounds, and don't ask how he got this name, she just started calling him this when he came home last weekend! ha!)
OH the sweet joys her voice rings in our ears.

A walker and a baby blade...

Yeah, that's what I'm callin' this little pearly white tooth that popped thru 2 days ago...ten months old and her first little razor blade came thru!!! I was beginning to wonder if she was going to become the toothless wonder. Haven't gotten the lens in for a pic yet b/c she's not too interested in saying "ahhh" yet.
And in other news...last week she started doing her 1st baby walk-abouts with her little activity walker!!!! Will was so stoked when he just stood her behind it and she just started pushing and WALKING, that he scooped her up and hollered for me to go get the video cam so we could catch the first few steps on tape. As usual, I think she wondered why in the world we were making such a big screaming deal about something so simple as walking, haha! She doesn't even know the half of our joy, delight and pleasure in her. Videos to come later!

Oh.My.Hula.

(A-bug practicing her hula hands in her sleep at 2.5 weeks old!)

Hula is already runnin' thick thru these baby veins (as pictured above from September of '08 and in the video below from tonight.)
I seriously have hardly even shown her how to do her hula hands, and she has watched her other lil hula bff practicing the hula hands a couple of times, but A-bug just busted these out tonight as I was doing them at dinner time, singing "Little Brown Girl" to her. So hillarious! It's amazing how much she's picking up and sponging in, just watching us. I must still do my hula hands and moves more often than I think!
We only caught the 2nd time thru tonight on tape, which wasn't as whole hearted as the 1st time thru, but she was so proud of herself after she was done the 1st time (probably because I was jumping up and down going crazy that she did it and hollering at daddy to break out the video cam) that she broke out into applause for herself. It takes her a minute to catch on again to the dance we're performing together, AND the camera is a wee bit of a distraction (or maybe she's gonna hate stage performance and being in front of people like her mama too, Sharon!) so be patient with her. She gives you a little taste at least!

I'm still dying laughing every time I watch it. She must know that she's already in training, as mama did polynesian dancing on and off from ages 5 to 25...and she's up next!!!

Look into her future Sharon (our hula teacher) and friends too...

Parenting, short and quick-reads...

Been doing a little reading (short and quick-reads of course, don't have a lot of long-reads time these days.)
Here's a few intriguing reads that have perked my ears and resonated in my heart, as of late. I have a dear friend, of whom I greatly respecting her grace-filled, godly parenting of 4, who is my short and quick-read supplier (as time is short to even find good short and quick-reads) and she's passed along a few winners...

Proof is in the Pudding...

That our lil bug can endure a car ride without incessant screaming, wahoo! We never thought we'd make it to this day, but we're here and lovin' it!

There's still a minor complaint here and there, but nothin' like we used to endure...

My nerves have been spared on the road, finally! And who knows what ever made this wee girl hate that car seat since birth, I'd love to know what goes on in that lil baby mind of hers.

And...we thought she had missed an important developmental milestone (gasp!) when she was never interested in eating her feet like she should have been at 4 months old, haha! Well, she found 'em now. Eat on, baby girl!

And could the baby blues get any bluer?!
